The Virtual Worlds Parliament started activities on 14th of March, 2009, with the purpose of promoting debate with other residents on policy and practices, on how best to run the different Virtual Worlds using or compatible with Open simulator (http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Grid_List, Second Life, Open Life, HiPiHi, etc) and interoperability between them.
Residents can take control and propose actions to run better all our Virtual Worlds and stop the Virtual Worlds technological companies taking unilateral decisions. Residents can get the press and with other residents on their side, tweak the companies business policy and practices, and propose how to handle crises that may arise.
"Because as residents, we want to be considered when somebody else is making decisions about our Virtual Worlds...we will be watching and taking action but also helping them to make the correct decisions for running better our community of Virtual Worlds technology companies, landlords, tenants, for-profit and non-for-profit organisations, creative artists, and all citizens that live with us." To participate online, residents only need to join The Virtual Worlds Parliament, represent a group of residents (minimum 2) and follow four basic instructions:
**A.To participate you need to include in your Virtual World Parliament PROFILE:
1. What group of residents do you represent?
2. Where is your residence (island name, private estate name/continent name, virtual world)
3. What is your avatar name (Second Life, Open Life, etc)
**B.To propose a NEW POST for discussion please use a question with the name of your Virtual World, for example:
How should a Game Addiction Health Service be run in SECOND LIFE?
How do you reduce crime in SECOND LIFE?
What should schools and education in VIRTUAL WORLDS look like?
How the prices of virtual land should be set up by Linden Lab in SECOND LIFE?
How can residents protect themselves from the companies that physically own our VIRTUAL WORLDS?
How can residents protect themselves from Linden Lab in SECOND LIFE?
How should the expansion of VIRTUAL WORLDS be managed?
How should the companies help to foster the economy of all VIRTUAL WORLDS?
How should Linden Lab help to foster the economy of SECOND LIFE?
How should skins be marketed in SECOND LIFE?
**C.Discussions are open to ANY TOPIC important for the community of each Virtual World including private businesses, products and/or for-profit and non-profit activities. Please remember to always respect Google's Terms of Service. Be respectful to other residents ideas and therefore do not use offensive language.
**D.Post Press Releases of your causes, business or groups in the appropriate section. Even if you do a million things in parliament, the people won't know unless you tell them. Use the Press Release tool to your advantage but do so carefully. A mistake here could cost you a fortune in popularity.
